Maybe if you’ve taken a social science class, you remember Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.  It is a fundamental theory that human beings tend toward dealing with the most basic requirements of survival (physiological needs, safety, love, and esteem), before they ascend to higher concerns (self actualization, or, purpose).  However, a lot of people, including people of faith, tend to linger in the so-called survival mode, and sometimes, exclusively.

Meanwhile, large, existential questions at the top of the pyramid are often treated as though they belong to the idle quests of philosophers, or college kids in late night rap sessions.  Not addressing these, though, leaves us without an ultimate “what” and “why.”

Having said this, WELCOME to chapter one of my new book.

It’s an early draft.  That means it hasn’t gone through an editorial gauntlet yet.  At this stage, you’re getting an idea of the large thoughts here, not helping me look for typos.

By all means, take your time going through it.  I will not have the next chapter ready for a few weeks.  For access, click the book cover!
